_MG_7725-PineRiverAvalanche  [8 of 73]

There were three, major avalanche debris fields on the east side of Pine River valley between Lake Creek Junction (trail spur leading to Emerald Lake) and Flint Creek Junction (leading up to Flint Lake). This is the largest of the the Pine River avalanches. The trail is covered by logs and debris of all sizes. It exits the aspen grove on the left and proceeds across about a third of the way up the image from the bottom. Getting around this field required a major detour down to the river, which is behind the camera in this picture. Even then, we walked over and through substantial debris, because the avalanche crossed the river.
