This backpacker is executing a difficult ford in Bridger Wilderness, Wyoming. The water is not deep, but it is cold and the current is swift. The retriever, carrying an empty saddlebag, made multiple back and forth trips across while the members of his party each made a single crossing. My wife and I were not with this group, but we subsequently made it safely across. This ford is usually impassable until at least early July because of snow runoff.
