This view is immediately below Indian Gardens on the Bright Angel Trail. From this pont, 3500 feet below the South Rim it is difficult to tell that you are in a canyon rather than in a mountain range. To give a sense of scale, the narrow, white, horizontal layer across the canyon is the Coconino sandstone, a sheer wall over 1000 feet high.
