_MG_9960-TigerSwallowtail  [10 of 121]

I tried for eight days to get a good photograph of one of the many Tiger Swallowtail butterflies that adorned the wildflowers of the Pine River Valley without success. Then, as we finally returned to our car and stowed our packs, we spotted this gorgeous specimen feeding on a Blue Gentian stock. I quickly changed lenses, jumped out and snapped a number of close-ups like this one before returning to our RV and hitting the showers.
