Our trail heads toward the saddle above and passes below Stroud Peak (the highest peak on the right). A trail junction below the pass offers the option of turning left (west) past huge Elbow Lake. Our planned route continues north over Shannon Pass and eventually returns via Elbow Lake to this trail junction.
