This view from the top of Emory Peak looks down upon the Basin. Karen is completing the last scramble to the top, elevation about 7900 feet. One can drive into the Basin, elevation 5500 feet, via a winding road from the desert far below. Hiking to Emory Peak is a long day hike. We were camped at Tool Mountain back country site, about a mile and 1000 vertical feet from the summit.
